New Tech Could Make Nuclear the Best Weapon Against Climate Change

Fission
—the breaking apart of atomic nuclei, the process underlying nuclear energy—emits no carbon dioxide. As we all know, nuclear reactor generates power from a cluster of fuel rods inside its core, each filled with uranium oxide. Every time an incoming neutron bombards one of the uranium atoms, the atom splits in two, expelling energy and releasing more neutrons, which in turn collide with other atoms and establish a chain reaction. The cumulative heat from this process boils water into steam, which spins a turbine to create electricity.

GREEN MARKETING : Balancing ECOlogy and ECOnomy:..

http://www.eao.uncc.edu/NL/Mar%2009/Green%20marketing%20pic.bmpYou may be surprised that this engg. student is writing articles about the management. But, it is true that even though I am not a GUJJU(person belogs to greate state:GUJARAT-INDIA, known for their buisness), I am in Gujarat!!! And, our Institute is also having some inspiring minds for management.
Just going to the topic, green Marketing. Today consumers(i cant say all but persons like me & U :)) are even more conscious than ever, as they prefer to purchase those products and packages that can be recycled or safely be disposed off. We can observe that consumer prefer eco- labeled products that are not only environmentally friendly but also ecologically safe. We can guess the reasons:because they foresee things to get worse as no place of the globe will escape the by- rapid industrialization and population growth. In fact industrial activities of the past half century have created serious ecological problems....(It is a so long list that I cant type them here, u can use google..)

From the marketer's point of view, they are also trying attract ppl by showing that how could be their product will help them to solve the nearby issues of the consumers. For example me, a computer engg student, so many companies are coming forword to design the software and hardware with a green tag with them. And also the main Industry in which notable changes are coming is Bulbs Industry.
http://www.pearlfinders.com/upload/csr_lightbulb.jpgEvery company in this field is having its own taglines, like less % of mercury in CFL, and also in the Indian villages, LED lamps are getting popular(I will write an another article on the same!!). You can not forget the Solar lamp industry too...
I think main goals of all these Companies are below. I tried my level best to think in both ECOnomy and ECOlogy point of view.

(1)Raw materials:

Ecology :
Product should use raw materials containing limited or no harmful chemicals which may directly induce the pollution(soil, water, atmspr), threat to wild lives and also harm to the ppl's lives,

Economy:Raw material should be 'ECO'nomic also with regard to our existing resources. Industry is also rapidly finding the solutions to these issues, for example, paper, is produced by bamboo trees now in some contries.

(2)packaging and transpoorting:

Ecoloy: Less energy should be used for the packaging and transportation. Hence we can decrease
pollution from the sources of pollution.!!

Economy: As the Energy used to pack and transport the product, cost of packing and transporting also automatically decreases!!!

(2) Recycle everything possible(reusable or refillable products):
Ecology: Due to increasing of population, every resourse is falling short. Hence, tp sustain on our MOTHER EARTH, recycling is most necessary. Now a days not only paper, glass, metals and plastic, but also clothes, garden furniture, paint and motor oil can also be recycled.

Economy: Recycled product and recyclable product really attracts the every cusotmer by its name only. Trowaway culture is depleting, hence consumers will be interested in easily refillable products.

(3) Designing of products for recycling, repair and remanufacturing:
Ecology:The process of recycling not so easy. It contains disposal of toxic elements(like lead). More than these, the best example would be refrigeretors. Products which can easily break down (i.e. biodegradable) and remain harmless after they go down the drain would be most preferred ones.

Economy:So, manufacturers have to set up infrastructure to facilitate designing of products for recycling, repair and remanufacturing , and doing so will not only help them save money, enhance quality but also get them closer to their customers.
http://www.treehugger.com/green-marketing-labels.jpgIn nature, every thing is recycled, waste for one organism becomes food for another, it is researched that 40% of one solid wastes are bio degradable materials than can be effectively composted into humus, an organic matter that can enrich gardens product designs to tackle this problem could be another growth area.

Today's successful green marketers no longer view consumers as individuals' appetites for material goods, but as human beings concerned about the condition of the world around them.

Products are no longer designed in a linear "Cradle to grave" fashion with no concern for the long term impact on society. Yesterday's resource intensive products are being replaced by innovative products.

Conclusion: The corporations have long term rather than short – term orientation and believe in not only making profits but also contributing to the society.

After seeing all these points, you may thinkin that
this is a well debatable issue. But my friend, take self-initiative and find a good path, people will always be there to follow you....OK Iwanna to sleep now...
thank you for reading...
(I have inspired by so many articles on green managent on the net, Hence I wrote this article)

Rather I am talking about those things which are made using eco-friendly and recycled materials. Then,......the latest for you could be the wide collection of these green or eco-friendly DRESSES.

These eco-friendly dresses made of bamboo, hemp, tencel etc. are here to make this world green in a fashionable way. For any environment conscious citizen it can be one of the best news he would be pathetically waiting to listen to. Surely, the use of bamboo and hemp is not going to affect your style quotient and use of eco-friendly fabrics is harmless, comparatively sustainable and are surely better than using poly and rayon. It has got such a great impact on the users that they seem to have been caught in wear-only-green frenzy.

The designers and the buyers are equally interested to join this bandwagon. The designers these days are willing to use more and more of such fabrics which are made of bamboo and recycled products. Also, they are using vegetable-dyed cotton extensively.

These eco-friendly dresses are completely harmless to the environment because they are made of bio-degrabale materials. These are madeup of highly earth-friendly and durable fabrics. It not only makes you stylish but also makes you socially and environmentally responsible.

So, the next time when you fix a shopping plan don't forget to ask the retailer about the sustainalble dresses, the other name of eco-friendly dresses. Surely, you to need to play a big and important role in this era of green movements.

Reduse packaging Wastage--5 tips!!!!!

packging_waste.jpg

The purpose of packaging to prevent damage and to provide important information to the consumer about the ingredients, usage, manufacturer and country of origin. These days, clever packaging can influence a purchasing decision and can be an important component in building brand recognition.

Unfortunately, the ongoing quest to find new ways to safeguard food and transport products has become a slippery slope on the road to overload. One dollar of every ten-dollar purchase goes to the cost of packaging, and overall package waste accounts for more than half of the trash in the U.S.

While products made from renewable resources are being developed, the “3R’s” of prevention: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle remain the first line of defense. Smart shoppers know that packaging can add as much as 45 percent to the cost of a product. Shrink-wrapped, precut produce displayed on a plastic tray may look appealing; however buying this way is twice as costly. Choosing those popular, prepackaged salad mixes can take a bite out of your food budget while adding to the avalanche of unnecessary package waste clogging our landfills.

Savvy shoppers choose the least packaged products available; a strategy that is both cost effective and practical.

1. Avoid trendy little water bottles. Those ubiquitous water bottles contribute heavily to the glut of practically indestructible plastic polluting the planet. Invest in a water filtration system and durable metal type sports bottles instead.

2. Buy Staples in Bulk. Natural food stores and coops stock bulk bins with varieties of rice, lentils, dried beans, fruit, nuts, seeds, and cereals. Buying in bulk is economical and convenient, allowing you to buy in exactly the amount you prefer.

3. Buy fabric softener and detergent and in “ultra” or concentrated strengths. Smaller containers mean fewer for the product itself and in shipping. Toothpaste packaged in conventional tubes produce 70 percent less waste than the pump-type toothpaste container. And you get almost two ounces more toothpaste in the tube then the pump.

4. Choose reusable totes to carry groceries instead of paper or plastic, to reduce waste and the toxic pollutants emitted in the manufacture of plastic bags, save trees, and avoid dependence on foreign suppliers of petroleum. Visit chicobag.com for earth friendly, reusable totes

5. Breastfeed your babies! Mother’s milk comes in the best packaging of all and human milk straight from the breast is always sterile. Breast-fed babies are less prone to childhood ailments, and don’t require all the unnecessary packaging and accessories associated with bottle-fed babies.

Smart strategies reduce wasteful packaging. You can buy in larger amounts or in bulk. You can avoid products with excessive packaging and select those with packaging that can be reused or recycled in your community. Being conscious of packaging options can make a difference at the landfill and at the check out register.

Shop environmentally
Twelve percent of the weight of the average rubbish bag is packaging. Because packaging rubbish is mostly very light plastic, it takes up a lot of space - sometimes up to half of the rubbish bag.
SO WHAT WE CAN DO IS........................

Say no to plastic bags

Sometimes you need a plastic bag, but there are times when you don't. If you don't need a plastic bag, don't take it.

You can also take your own bag to the shops - reuse plastic shopping bags from last time or buy some reusable cloth bags.

Buy products with less packaging or recyclable packaging

Buy economy sized products, concentrates and refills - these give you more product for less packaging. Less packaging means less rubbish.

Buy products packaged in cardboard, paper, glass, cans or type 1 and 2 plastics - these can usually be RECYCLED. Recyclable packaging means less rubbish.

Buy products which contain recycled material

For recycling to work properly, it has to be made into new products and we have to buy them.
